Reading/Writing & History (9:30-11:00am)

Required Textbook: Skills Sharpener K for Kindergarten or Skills Sharpener 1 for 1st grade

Course Description: This two-year program will help introduce and reinforce reading and writing skills through a variety of fun games, hands-on activities, crafts, and more. Students will be encouraged to grow in fine motor skills, classroom etiquette, cooperative play, and the joy of learning. There will be weekly chapter books read aloud to students as a means of sharing culture, history, and geography.

Classroom Work: We will read books in class together weekly, as well as play fun activities. Students will have opportunities to work on classroom etiquette, like turn-taking and listening/respecting the teacher, and will work on fine motor skills like cutting/tracing. Weekly homework pages will be assigned.. 

Prerequisites: students must be 5 by August 31.
