Required Textbooks: America's Story Volume 1 & Teacher's Guide (O'Dell)

Course Description: America's Story 1 brings history alive, exploring the earliest part of our country's history. From the very first Americans and the Age of Exploration down through the gold rush of 1849, we will look at the formative events that shaped our nation. This curriculum uses a Charlotte Mason approach, bringing the settings and characters to life through the use of narration and beautiful historic illustrations.

Classroom Work: Group discussion and review questions; quizzes; timeline activities; Reader's Theater plays: Map work; Presentations; Period artist studies and group projects/crafts. 

Homework: One chapter per week, all pages are included in the Teacher's Guide. Types of assignments to include: Directed Journaling; Artwork Sketching; Vocabulary and Map Adventures
